• Mara Perkenal Pasar Raya Halal, Halmart, di Luar Negara
  KUALA LUMPUR 26 Jun – Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) akan memperkenalkan pasar raya berkonsepkan halal sepenuhnya secara francais di luar negara.
  
  Pasar raya yang dikenali sebagai Halmart itu diwujudkan sebagai usaha melahirkan lebih ramai usahawan bumiputera dan meningkatkan pasaran produk tempatan di luar negara.
  
  Menteri Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin menjelaskan, buat masa ini, sebuah pasar raya prototaip dibina di Wangsa Maju dekat sini bagi membolehkan mereka yang berminat menceburi bidang keusahawanan melihat lebih dekat konsep itu.
  
  ‘‘Dalam masa satu atau dua bulan lagi Mara akan melancarkan Halmart.
  
  ‘‘Di negara ini, untuk mendapatkan barangan halal tidak menjadi masalah tetapi di luar negara konsep sebegini pasti mendapat sambutan khususnya daripada pengguna Islam,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Pusat Khidmat Francais (FSC) di sini, hari ini.
  
  FSC yang dikendalikan sebuah agensi di bawah kementerian itu iaitu Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PNS) mula beroperasi pada awal bulan ini.
  
  Ia berperanan sebagai pusat sehenti dalam memberikan perkhidmatan sokongan sepenuhnya kepada usahawan.
  
  Menurut Khaled, PNS menetapkan sasaran untuk melahirkan 1,000 usahawan francais dalam Rancangan Malaysia Kesembilan (RMK-9).
  
  ‘‘Kita sasarkan untuk melahirkan 200 usahawan setiap tahun.
  
  ‘‘Untuk tahun ini, kementerian sedang melatih 120 usahawan francais dan mereka akan beroperasi dalam tempoh tiga bulan lagi,” katanya.
  
  Beliau menambah, selain produk halal, kementeriannya juga akan berusaha untuk memasarkan herba tempatan di luar negara.
  
  Sementara itu dalam ucapannya, Khaled menyeru usahawan bumiputera khususnya daripada kalangan siswazah agar menceburi bidang francais.
  
  Jelasnya, francais merupakan alternatif yang sesuai kerana mereka tidak perlu bertungkus-lumus untuk membangunkan produk atau perkhidmatan.
  
  Sebaliknya tambah beliau, perniagaan yang dijalankan itu telah pun diperkukuh oleh francaisor.
  
  ‘‘Ini termasuklah segala urusan penjenamaan, pelabelan dan promosi.
  
  ‘‘Apa yang perlu francaisi lakukan adalah mengurus manual perniagaan dengan baik dan mengawal perbelanjaan akaun secara cekap serta amanah agar modal pusingan tidak terjejas,” katanya.(Utusan)

• Purdue Student accused of changing physics grades
  WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A Purdue University student faces tampering charges for allegedly tapping into a campus computer system to change his grades in a physics class.
  
  Mark B. Schneider, 23, of Batesville was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of computer tampering and computer trespassing. He was released from the Tippecanoe County Jail after posting bond.
  
  Lt. Fred Davis of the Purdue Police Department said Schneider, a senior science student, allegedly gained access to Purdue's instructional support system to retrieve and change his grades in an upper-level physics course.
  
  A professor who noticed that grades for one of his courses seemed incorrect informed Purdue's information technology personnel, who then contacted campus police.
  
  Davis said investigators found that grade changes had been made on the computer system and that those changes affected the course's grading curve.
  
  "We believe that fewer than 15 students' grades were affected, and we are continuing the investigation to make sure all of those grades are corrected," he said.

We want to give special mention to Xgl for 3D acceleration on the desktop, NetworkManager for getting painless WiFi access everywhere, the completely open source AppArmor 2.0, and the full integration of Xen 3 in YaST." At present only the 5-CD sets (and one add-on CD containing non-free software) for three architectures are available for download, with the installation DVD and live DVD expected a week a from now.
